BEST COAST - CALIFORNIA NIGHTS

Posted in: What's New | No Comments

Best Coast ‐ singer/songwriter/guitarist Bethany Cosentino and guitarist Bobb Bruno ‐ will release their third full‐length album, entitled California Nights, on Harvest Records on May 4th. To celebrate the release of California Nights, California Nights ‐ produced by Wally Gagel (Miley Cyrus, New Order, Muse), and recorded at WAX LTD in Hollywood, California ‐ is a brighter, more sparkly, more sophisticated, more psychedelic Best Coast album across the board, embodying the rich lightness and stinging darkness of a California state of mind. The love stories Bethany spins on California Nights all detail the highs and the lows of relationships, similar to the juxtaposition of the band’s native Los Angeles ‐ a place tinted by candy‐colored palm trees and pale blue skies while existing within the loneliness and desperation of waterless place. More than that, there is a literal meaning to the record’s title ‐ Cosentino is a well‐documented insomniac whose creativity spirals out in the early hours ...

Posted in: What's New | No Comments

Shelby Lynne will release her 13th full‐length album, and first for Rounder Records, entitled I Can’t Imagine, on May 4th, 2015. Comprising 10 new songs written or co‐written by the GRAMMY® winning singer‐songwriter, I Can’t Imagine, reflects an array of Lynne’s influences – from Southern soul, Crescent City R&B, and California country & western to the ardent social consciousness of precursors like Woody Guthrie and even the roots ‘n blues vocalizing of Billie Holiday – all brought into clear focus by Lynne’s keen pop sensibility. Fiercely independent, forever authentic and thoroughly original, Shelby Lynne inhabits the same space in American music shaped by such like‐minded musical renegades as Neil Young, Gram Parsons, Bobbie Gentry, Emmylou Harris, ...

JESSE COOK - ONE WORLD

Posted in: What's New | No Comments

For Jesse Cook, music has been a journey. Sonically and literally. “Over the years, I’ve taken my music and tried to cross-pollinate it with music from different parts of the world,” explains the 50-year-old global-guitar virtuoso. “For the (2003) album Nomad, I went to Cairo and recorded with musicians there. On my (2009) record The Rumba Foundation, I went to Colombia, and worked with musicians from Cuba as well. On (1998’s) Vertigo, I went down to Lafayette, La., and recorded with Buckwheat Zydeco. For me, the question has always been: Where did you go? Where did you take your guitar?” The short answer this time? Nowhere. And everywhere. After two decades of criss-crossing the world in restless pursuit of inspiration, innovation and collaboration, the Paris-born, Toronto-raised Cook changed course for his ninth studio album One World, out April 28th on eOne Music world-wide. Instead of exotic locales, he stayed home in his studio. Instead of a foreign legion of performers, he relied ...
