MoreIn the 5 years since Said The Whale formed, the band’s hook-heavy pop rock sound has propelled them to successes that include a nationally televised documentary, a Juno Award victory, and a seemingly endless series of tours across North America and beyond. In an age of overnight internet sensations, it’s a true grassroots success story that has allowed the group to take its place among the Canadian indie rock elite. More diverse than the band’s previous albums, Little Mountain is a multi-stylistic tour-de-force that ventures into everything from soaring, horn-laden cabaret (“The Reason”) to jaggedly syncopated rock (“We Are 1980”) and effervescent guitar pop (“Loveless”). 2012 will see the band continuing to do what they do best: relentlessly touring and delivering killer songs with big-hearted passion.

MoreNorth Carolina–based Carolina Chocolate Drops follow up their critically lauded label debut—2010’s Grammy® Award–winning Genuine Negro Jig, which reached #1 on the Billboard Bluegrass Chart and #2 on the Billboard Heatseekers and Folk Charts—with Leaving Eden, due February 28 on Nonesuch Records. The group returns with a record of original compositions, covers, and traditional songs produced by Buddy Miller (Emmylou Harris, Robert Plant, Patty Griffin, Solomon Burke). In 2011 multi-instrumentalist Hubby Jenkins joined Flemons and Giddens in the group upon Robinson’s departure. The members share singing duties and swap instruments throughout their sets. MoreI am so delighted that this very personal album has finally been released in North America. I wrote all of the songs on this CD in 1992 on my farm in Australia, after completing treatment for breast cancer. Every song reflects that experience – my raw emotions and feelings and my close connection to mother earth, Gaia. I am so grateful that now, almost twenty years later, I am extremely healthy and that I have been blessed with the opportunity to meet and be inspired by so many wonderful people – fellow cancer thrivers – thank you for sharing your experience with me” Olivia Newton-John
MoreThe End of That is Plants and Animals’ third full-length album, following their breakthrough debut,Parc Avenue, and 2010’s La La Land. It showcases the band in an intimate, almost live-off-the-floor setting. While there’s no shortage of their catchy electric guitar riffs, as evidenced on lead single “Lightshow,” the album also showcases lead singer Warren C. Spicer on piano, and plenty of acoustic guitar—an early touchstone of the band that had been given a break on the last record. Fans of Plants and Animals’ early acoustic work will feel right at home with The End of That, while lovers of the band’s multi-part excursions won’t be disappointed either; side A and B of the album end and begin with their own respective anthemic monsters. Plants and Animals have a large live following, and have supported The National, Grizzly Bear, Frightened Rabbit and Broken Bells, among others.
MoreSantana were founded in the late sixties and came into the spotlight following their appearance at the Woodstock festival in 1969. Their eponymous debut album was released the same year and became a global success, introducing the public to the band’s unique blend of latin rhythms and guitar based rock. With legendary guitarist and band leader Carlos Santana at the helm, hit albums and singles followed through the seventies, eighties, nineties and up to the present day. Both Carlos and the band have been frequent visitors to Montreux over the years and in 2011 they presented a stunning concert of their greatest hits, classic album tracks and brilliant cover versions from their debut album right up to 2010’s “Guitar Heaven”. This is the ultimate Santana live concert and absolutely not to be missed. Special Guests include Susan Tedeschi, Derek Trucks and Cindy Blackman-Santana.
