North Carolina–based Carolina Chocolate Drops follow up their critically lauded label debut—2010’s Grammy® Award–winning Genuine Negro Jig, which reached #1 on the Billboard Bluegrass Chart and #2 on the Billboard Heatseekers and Folk Charts—with Leaving Eden, due February 28 on Nonesuch Records. The End of That is Plants and Animals’ third full-length album, following their breakthrough debut,Parc Avenue, and 2010’s La La Land. It showcases the band in an intimate, almost live-off-the-floor setting. While there’s no shortage of their catchy electric guitar riffs, as evidenced on lead single “Lightshow,” the album also showcases lead singer Warren C. Spicer on piano, and plenty of acoustic guitar—an early touchstone of the band that had been given a break on the last record. Santana were founded in the late sixties and came into the spotlight following their appearance at the Woodstock festival in 1969. Their eponymous debut album was released the same year and became a global success, introducing the public to the band’s unique blend of latin rhythms and guitar based rock. With legendary guitarist and band leader Carlos Santana at the helm, hit albums and singles followed through the seventies, eighties, nineties and up to the present day. Il Volo’s PBS Special “Il Volo Takes Flight – Live From the Detroit Opera House” had its initial airing in Detroit on Dec 7th. The response has been extremely positive with over 26 markets confirmed to date that will be airing the special March 3-14. Italian heartthrobs, Il Volo, the three Teenage Tenors who are in the midst of a hugely successful 17-city Live Nation US concert tour, filmed their live show at Detroit’s famed Opera House on October 27th. The show was produced by famed Grammy producer Ken Ehrlich and Il Volo’s managers. Michele Torpedine and Steve Leber are executive producers. The show will be part of their local pledge drive.
