Friday, February 17, 2017 News... Announcing two new House Concerts in the Turret Room: David J. Nichols "The Power of Melody" Piano Recital Friday, February 24th, 7 - 9 p.m. This will be primarily a classical music program featuring the music of Bach, Beethoven, Brahms and Chopin.  David will also perform two of his own compositions for piano and a new work entitled "In Pi."  David has a Masters Degree in Music Theory and Composition from the University of Toronto and also received his A.R.C.T. in piano performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music.  David taught music at Northern Collegiate in Sarnia and Lambton Central Collegiate in Petrolia for thirty years, during which time he continued his compositional interests.  David’s music has been played in Toronto, Darmstadt, Vancouver, Waterloo, Viet Nam, Sarnia, and on the CBC.  Currently he is the president of the Sarnia Concert Association and the Lambton County Music Festival and an associate ...

FROM THEATRE SARNIA:  The 2017 Theatre Sarnia One Act Festival call for directorial submissions has arrived. Every year, Theatre Sarnia offers an opportunity for new and aspiring theatre directors to get their foot in the door, directing a one act play to be performed on the Imperial Theatre stage. The direction of a one-act play is the prerequisite for directing one of Theatre Sarnia's big seasonal shows, and we are looking for 6 new artists to join our community. The One Act Festival has evolved into a successful 2 night, 6 part showcase of comedies, dramas, experimental works and original productions. Registration is open for all 2017 children's art classes by The City of Sarnia in cooperation with The Lawrence House Centre for the Arts. The dates and information are available on the newly revamped Lawrence House web site. There is PD Day Art, After School Art, Weekend Art (at the Bright's Grove Library) and March Break Art Camp all for children ages 6 - 12. ISO presents Summer Strings...

An Introductory Summer Strings Programme The International Symphony Orchestra is pleased to be sponsoring an Introductory Summer Strings Programme for ages five and above. Adults are also welcome to attend. Sessions will run July 25th to 29th, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. each morning, and will include instruction in the beginning elements of string playing: sound production/notes; correct hand and finger position; posture etc. Accomplishments will be highlighted at a Graduation Recital, which will take place on the morning of July 29th . Participants may select either violin or cello, and instruments will be provided. Sessions are being held in the Sarnia location, 251 North Vidal Street. A fee of $50 applies for the 5 classes, with some bursary assistance available depending on need. Violin students will be under the instruction of Stephen Collins, Director of the St. Cecilia Conservatory of Music, and International Symphony Orchestra violist. Coming out isn't something you do once; it's something you'll continue to do for the rest of your life. Regardless of sexual identity, coming out is an ongoing process of living your sexuality and gender identity and bringing it into your families, groups of friends, workplaces, and communities. Join us on June 1st at our second Sarnia Speaks dialogue as we discuss what it's like coming out and living as an LGBTQ individual in our community. Listen to the stories of our featured panel members and after share your own during an open floor. Melody is working together with St. Clair Child & Youth Services to provide this workshop fundraising event, in support of our Youth Cooking Program. Law of Attraction Workshop The day will include key speakers discussing how to use the Law of Attraction by utilizing visualization, energy & emotions.
