May 4th First Friday is the perfect opportunity to get out of the house and discover downtown Sarnia and all it has to offer. The listing below are some of the many interesting places to stop and enjoy what they have in store for the entire family. Remember parking is free after 6:00 p.m. in the municipal lots and on the street.

1. Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery – 147 Lochiel St – 6-9:00 pm – JNAAG opens its newest exhibition ‘Influencing Identity’ featuring works by the Group of Seven. Join us in your best Canadian tuxedo to talk about what makes us Canadian – coffee and maple syrup provided.

2. Coffee Culture – 130 Lochiel St. – 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. – Live music

3. Cheeky Monkey – 130 Christina St. N – 7-9:00 pm – Live music with Wild Cards
– ‘Chasing The Light’ New art exhibit & sale by Bill Walters – Pat McGill selling handcrafted tote bags made by and the proceeds going to Mukwano Women’s Group of Uganda

4. Artopia – 188 Christina St N – For Cathy Earle’s latest show she has sought to reimagine flowers in unexpected compositions. In particular, intertwining flowers with elements such as birds, butterflies, and people! These works are united by a shared sense of depth, colour, and dynamism, with an emphasis on patterns, colours, and textures that can be found in lush tropical settings. “Passion is a feast for the eyes” Exhibition opening Thursday May 3rd 6-9 pm continues until May 5th 2018

11. Lawrence House Centre for the Arts – 127 Christina St. S – 6 – 9:00 p.m. -“The Lambton County High School Art Show sponsored by Ariel and Vince Lyons” opens in the main gallery and upstairs featuring work by students at Alexander MacKenzie, LCCVI, North Lambton, Northern and St. Pat’s. The exhibition continues through Friday, May 25th. Missy Burgess will be performing outside on the lawn, weather permitting.

12. Vanilla Bean – 138 Cromwell St. – Live entertainment 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.

13. Refined Fool – 137 Davis St – Emily Lardner exhibiting a series of paintings (acrylic and oil on panel).
