Offsite Impact First Friday Impact

Posted in: Concerts & Events, First Friday, Local Talent, News | No Comments | Posted on by Mary Anne

STo say the August First Friday was a roaring success is an understatement.  A combination of pleasant summer weather, GreekFest happening a block away and Offsite Impact playing at Cheeky Monkey was the best possible mix to kick off the Civic Holiday weekend.

We were very familiar with the talent of three members of Offsite Impact. Dale White (Keyboards/ Back-up Vocals), Barry White (Frontman/Vocals/Bass Guitar) and Paul Eastman (Drums) have all played at Cheeky Monkey previously in other bands.  Paul, being a very versatile and accommodating drummer, has played in at least four different bands appearing over the years at Cheeky Monkey.  We were so very impressed with Offsite Impacts sound and stage presence, that we sincerely hope Paul has found a long lasting band to set his kit up with.

Offsite Impacts playlist is an impressive selection of very dance-able hits from over the decades.  Suspect they choose these particular songs to fit the upbeat mood of First Fridays and what we heard is just the tip of iceberg of what they can play for any occasion or venue.

OThey kicked off the night of two hours straight playing with Coldplay’s ‘Yellow’ and ended with Golden Earrings ‘Radar Love’.  At least they thought it was the end of the night until the enthusiastic audience asked for one more.  They complied with just one more by playing The White Stripes ‘ 7 Nation Army’ giving the audience a high note to conclude the night on.  In between, were hits by The Doors, Fleetwood Mac and Bob Marley to name a few.

Each member of the band, including the two new musicians we met, George Leenhouts (Guitar/Vocals) and Kevin Churchill (Guitar/Vocals), had stand out moments at some point during the evening.  Each of the five band mates contribute in the best way possible to create a solid sound right down to the harmonies on vocals.

After the show, we discussed a return engagement with the band. We really hope they can find a future First Friday date to slot us into their schedule.  Suspect they will find themselves in demand for a variety of events and occasions as word gets out about OFFSITE IMPACT.
