March 4 First Friday at Cheeky Monkey will be very special since it is a reunion of sorts. Live music will be provided by ‘The Fabulous Buck Brothers Reunion Band’ made up of seasoned local musicians who are honouring the memory of Chuck Buck who passed away about 2 years ago. The original Buck Brothers Band harkens back to the era of Sarnia music scene with other bands such as The Volcanoes, The Ring and The Grass Company.
Orval Cavin on bass is the back bone of Fabulous Buck Brothers Reunion, as he was in the 1960’s band of the Buck Brothers. His love of rock and roll with a flare for Caribbean music is evident in his playing and writing style.
1980’s member of the Buck Brothers, Jack Dunn brings not only his talent on rhythm guitar and vocals to the group, but also his wealth of knowledge in rock, country, folk and pop music. Jack is an avid concert goer giving him the first hand perspective on how to keep listeners engaged.
Joining these veterans of music is vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Phil Beauchamp. Guitar, saxophone, keyboards, fiddle and mandolin are a few of his favourites. Some will recognize Phil from his days in another popular local band, Copper Still.
Also from Copper Still is drumming enthusiast Gerry Ostrihon. Gerry has played several times previously at Cheeky Monkey in the band Cross Tie Walker and more recently in Element of Surprise. His rock steady ability on percussion makes him a much sought after drummer.
Rounding out the group is Guy Houle on guitar. He and Phil have a long musical history together dating back to their childhood days. This decades old friendship is evident in how well they read each others cues when playing.
These five experienced and ardent musicians make up ‘The Fabulous Buck Brothers’ reunion band. Their brand of classic pop and rock covers along with a smattering of original songs are sure to please everyone’s ears. Give them a listen from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. during the March 4 First Friday at Cheeky Monkey located at 130 Christina St. North downtown Sarnia.
