MT. JOY – REARRANGE US

Mt. Joy’s star rose quickly from a bedroom project to a well-oiled machine dubbed “your new folk-rock heroes” by Rolling Stone upon the 2018 release of their self-titled debut record. That same year and beyond, millions of streams piled up month after month, and sold-out crowds sang along to every song and grew in number with every tour and festival stop they made. Their highly anticipated sophomore album Rearrange Us is sonically rich and expansive; producer Tucker Martine, known for his work on seminal albums by My Morning Jacket and Modest Mouse, widened Mt. Joy’s sound, and allows the growing sophistication of the songwriting and the arrangements to really shine. Mt. Joy is poised to be the indie breakout act of 2020.

LIAM GALLAGHER – MTV...

LIAM GALLAGHER RELEASES ANTICIPATED MTV UNPLUGGED (LIVE AT HULL CITY HALL) Last summer Liam Gallagher joined the list of all - time greats (Paul McCartney, Page and Plant, Nirvana and many more) who have filmed a prestigious MTV Unplugged session. Having missed Oasis’s 1996 session through illness, the show at Hull’s City Hall found Liam fulfilling some unfinished business entirely on his own terms. Now Liam is set to release the ‘MTV Unplugged’ live album of the show on June 12th. The show’s electrifying atmosphere is palpable from the very beginning with a phenomenal reaction as Liam takes to the stage with ‘Wall of Glass’. Material from Liam ’s solo career such as his personal favourite ‘Once’ and the joyous ‘Now That I’ve Found You’ resonates in this stripped - back format, with his vocal shining alongside a trio of backing singers and string arrangements performed by the 24 - piece Urban Soul Orchestra. Liam launches the ‘MTV Unplugged’ album by sharing the new version of ‘Gone’, which was one of the strongest performances of the night. Stripped of the force of the studio recording, ‘Gone’ instead reveals new - found bombastic dynamics and ...

JOEL PLASKETT – 44

A conceptual follow-up to his JUNO-award winning triple record, Three, 44 is a visionary project comprised of four, 11-song records, packaged together and connected thematically. Four years in the making, the songs were recorded in Dartmouth, Memphis, Nashville and Toronto with 33 different musicians. The first album, 41: Carried Away, is a traveling record. It starts in Memphis with the song Collusion, old memories colliding with the present and the journey begins. The second album, 42: Just Passing Through, playfully evokes the feeling of returning home to an unfamiliar landscape, while, 43: If There's Another Road, is an introspective, nighttime transition from lost to found. The fourth and final album, 44: The Window Inn, documents the arrival at a personal destination, summed up in the last song, "A Benefit 4 Dreamland." The artwork for 44 reflects the same creativity and attention to detail apparent in all of Joel's music. The four individual album covers fit together to form a single photograph shot through a fourpane window. Lead single “Head Over Heels ...

THE 1975 - NOTES ON A CONDITIONAL FORM

Posted in: What's New | No Comments

Straddling the line between hooky dance‐rock and vintage adult contemporary sophistication, Britain's the 1975 found massive success in the 2010s with their distinctively arty, if still undeniably mainstream, pop aesthetic. Showcasing lead singer Matt Healy's croon, they built a loyal following with their extroverted live performances and buzzed‐about 2012 single "Sex." The track was included in their 2013 eponymous full‐length debut, which brought them international stardom, topping the charts in the U.K. and reaching the Top 30 on the Billboard 200. They fared even better with their sophomore album, I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware of It, which hit number one in both the U.K. and the U.S. and found them adding even more ambitious R&B influences to their sound. Originally, the members of the 1975 met in 2002 while attending high school in Wilmslow, Cheshire, a suburb of Manchester. They started out covering punk songs and playing at ...
